    The Artist has already clinched the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Comedy. Now it's leading the pack of films nominated for BAFTA Awards — the British equivalent of the Oscars. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius, who is up against Martin Scorsese (Hugo), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin) for Best Director, The Artist earned a total of 12 nods from BAFTA, which stands for British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
